Automatic Generation of Closed Regions
The application detects and generates closed regions. These regions are then automatically shaded to inform the user that they are closed and are suitable for solid creation.
In addition to this powerful function, the user can also use the Create Profile function.
The application is able to detect and generate closed regions from the following:
2D Sketches |
2D Geometry that creates 6 Regions |
Surfaces |
2 overlapping Surfaces: 3 Regions detected |
Sketch |
Solid with 2D Geometry on a Face: 4 Regions detected |
Imported 2D Entities from a DXF/DWG File |
Imported DXF File: Multiple Regions detected |
Notes:
- The 2D elements/surfaces have to be assigned to a Workplane for closed regions to be detected.
- When creating annotations, the region calculation is not triggered and, therefore, the closed regions between them are not created.
- The Extrude command works with regions.
- If the user has a complex DXF/DWG file which contains a large number regions that need to be detected and shaded, this can cause extended loading time. If this is a cause for concern and the user has no need to find regions, the function can be disabled by pressing the [ESC] key during the processing of regions.
- Region creation may be toggled on and off using the
icon in the status bar.
